Frozen Catninetails

Even though everyone here thinks spring is on its way, there's still plenty of snow and ice around.
Even frozen catninetails.

It was a beautiful sunny day at AWCC

It was a beautiful sunny day, so it was a good time to take a trip down to the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center. The bears get fed at 4:00 pm, if we hurry we can make it.

Two minutes to spare and a up front view. Salmon and ground beef, or is that surf and turf. They didn't care, they said it was good.
The lighting was awesome and so was the temperature. It was right around 38° with a slight wind. The buffalo thought it was just right for a nap.
The lynx were awake and enjoying the weather also. Everyone thinks spring is right around the corner.
The eagles were watching the bears and waiting for them to miss some of the salmon or ground beef.

Iditarod 2014

It's been running about a week now. There was the ceremonial start in Anchorage and the restart in Willow. So far 13 mushers have scratched, including always favorite Dee Dee Jonrowe (above), most due to poor trail conditions.
Below are some links to check out if you want updates of the race
It's an exciting race!
