Life is good

It is good and I’m not saying that to make someone feel good. It has its ups and downs, but all in all, it’s generally the best ride around. It’s been 10 months since my last post and a lot has happened.

I really enjoy volunteering for Bird TLC. I don’t get to volunteer as much as I use to, but I do what I can. We lost two birds this  past year that were very special to me. Both Hal and Petra were bald eagles that allowed myself and other volunteers to present them to the public. I still present Ghost the snowy owl, and believe me, he’s very special to me and continues to allow me to present him.
My pups, my 5 beagles make me smile every day. I lost Joy this past winter. She was such a sweet thing. I’m adopting 2 more, Lucy and Spot. There’s something about senior dogs, especially beagles.
I took about a year off from working and did a lot with Bird TLC, did a lot of work around the house and the pups and I headed out to Alaska in the RV. Fairbanks,Tok, Denali, Sterling, Seward to just name a few. Needless to say, we had a blast.
I went back to work last April. I wanted a job where I wasn’t in management, I would be in a clean environment with low stress and no travel. So I went from 20 years as an aircraft mechanic, 30 years selling auto parts, to selling men’s clothes. I’m at Men’s Wearhouse as a wardrobe consultant and enjoying it. I’ve been dealing with governor candidates, head of Alaskan Native Corporations, to guys and gals getting married or applying for a job. I’ve been helping all kinds of people that already look good, look nicer. The best part of it all is the conversations we have. Interacting with people has always been the fun part to me in sales. It helps that we have a good crew working with me at the store.

My kids are grown and moved on with their lives. My youngest is in  Louisiana with her husband and 3 of my awesome grandkids. It’s been a while since I’ve got to see them and it’s on the do soon list. My youngest son and his wife are in Texas. Two people that really enjoy each other. I miss them all.  My oldest son is here in Alaska with his wife and 4 of my awesome grandkids. I get to see them often and watch as the grandkids grow, from playing hockey to whatever they’re into.

Yep, life is good! I think I’ll continue giving it all I got! Someday it’ll be time to move on but until then you’ll find me Around Alaska.

Nice post Dave. Can't believe it's been 10 months since the last one. Time sure is flying by. Happy life is good with you and your beagle crew, plus Ghost, the coolest snowy owl ever. :)
