I like the world a little less today
From Around Anchorage |
Our friend Aggie has gone to, as my friend Meggie in PA would say, Rainbow Ridge. Aggie was given to my son Nick when he was almost 16. When Nick came to live with us, of course Aggie had to move in also. When Nick moved out on his own we talked him into leaving Aggie with us, figuring he would be better taken care of. Not that Nick wouldn't take care of him, but you know how it is when your first out on your own. Nick would hardly take care of himself. After that, Aggie developed some medical issues and Nick wouldn't even be able to afford the meds.
Aggie slowly became Ruth's dog. No, she didn't steal him from Nick. Aggie just had that natural attraction for her. He would hear her Caravan coming a block away and would stand on the back of the coach looking out the window for her and don't you get in his way.
Aggie's last day was special. He got whatever he wanted. Ruth went up to Safeway and got his favorite food. "Rotisserie Chicken". Though he really didn't want to eat, he ate that and wanted more. He even tried to play with his toys. He loved squeekie toys.
Aggie was 13. He was a dog among dogs. He will be missed dearly

So so sorry--when our dogs go to "Rainbow Ridge"--we humans grieve deeply. Dogs are so much our friends, and we theirs. So it is hard to have the bond be broken.
Grieve, and remember, and slowly heal.
Something special about a loving dog, isn't there? I reckon Aggie might have had it pretty good at your place though.
Regards and condolences,
Gouldiae
Take care,
