Cooper
Cooper, aka Coop, aka Cooper Dog, aka Super Cooper, aka Super Dooper Cooper Dog. This Saturday is his birthday and he'll be 10 years young. He came to live with Macy and I a little over two years ago. He was left in a kennel with no food or water in an apartment when the tenants moved out suddenly. He wasn't found for five days. He was taken in by friends of mine, but he didn't get along with their basset hound. So he came with Macy and I for a try out. I guessed it worked, he's still here and will be as long as he wants.
Macy was a little unsure of him at first as you can see in this photo of his ride to our house. He was food aggressive, but who could blame him. We worked on that and he's a lot better about that now. He's aggressive towards other dogs he don't know. I control that and we're working on it.
Here's when he first came to the house.
He loves kids. Tripp here loves to hug on him. Cooper loves hugs and being petted. He'll tap you with his paw if you stop petting him.
He also likes to guard his domain. This is one of his favorite spots. He can see most of the neighborhood from here.
It's a good spot for all of us to enjoy.
This chair was ment for me to read next to my bedroom window. He had other ideas, so we added an old comforter.
All the pups love our RV. If I just open the door, they're there.
This was on a trip to the Denali Highway, one of our favorite places to go camp.
But in the pickup truck, he gets the back seat. Here we are going to go get me coffee and them some treats and lovin's at Polar Bear Espresso and then off to do some photography and hiking.
Needless to say he and the others like my smoked salmon. I'm all out of fish in my freezer, so we better stock up come summer.
But Cooper has helped make this house a home. He always greats me at the gate when I come home and he leads the car or truck up the driveway.
Always watching out for that person walking by and heaven forbid they be walking their dog. He believes he's bigger than any moose and can outrun any rabbit or squirrel. He has a gal pal that goes for a walk with her owner every day. Her and Cooper run up and down the fence barking at one another until one tires out and once they rest they go at it again. It's hilarious.
He's as sweet and huggable as he looks.
Doesn't mind the weather. He'll go for a walk at any temperature, snowing, raining or whatever.
We're lucky to have Super Dooper Cooper Dog living with us. He has really come around. He still cowers or flinches whenever you move your hand too fast towards him sometimes. I hope he realizes that he has nothing to worry here. Sorry Coop, all you'll get here is hugs, pets and some more lovin.
